Logic Pro Troubleshooting

Last updated on

If something isn't working between the Auriteq controller and Logic Pro, check the common issues below - each one includes a step-by-step solution.

Logic Pro: Device Mode is empty or plugin controls do not appear

Problem

In Logic Pro, the Auriteq controller is connected and some functions may work, such as transport controls, but Device Mode does not show the plugins on the selected channel.

You may notice one of the following:

  • Device Mode shows empty slots
  • Plugins are inserted on the channel, but they do not appear on the controller
  • Plugin controls do not show correctly
  • Transport controls work, but plugin control does not
  • The controller was added, but the input/output ports seem incorrect

Cause

This is usually caused by Logic Pro’s Control Surface preferences.

Sometimes Logic’s control surface configuration can become corrupted or confused, especially after adding, removing, or changing MIDI controllers. When this happens, Logic may not correctly connect the Auriteq controller to the plugin/device system, even if the controller appears to be connected.

Solution

Step 1: Close Logic Pro

Make sure Logic Pro is completely closed before continuing.

Step 2: Open the Logic Control Surface preferences location

Open Finder, then press Cmd + Shift + G.

Paste this path, then press Enter:

~/Library/Preferences/

Step 3: Find this file

Look for the following file:

com.apple.logic.pro.cs

This is Logic Pro’s Control Surface preferences file.

Step 4: Delete or move the file

If you do not use any other MIDI controllers or custom controller mappings, you can delete the file.

If you use other controllers and want to be safe, move the file to another folder instead of deleting it — for example, move it to your Desktop.

Step 5: Reopen Logic Pro

Open Logic Pro again.

Step 6: Add the Auriteq controller again

Go to Logic Pro → Control Surfaces → Setup, then add the Auriteq controller again.

Make sure the controller’s input and output ports are both set correctly to Auriteq.

Step 7: Make sure that "Display Mode" is set to Value

Double check that this setting is set to Value.

Step 8: Restart the Auriteq app

Close and reopen the Auriteq app, then select Logic Pro again if needed.

After this: Device Mode should now show the plugins on the selected channel, and all pre-mapped plugin controls should appear normally.
